Meeting of January 16, 2018

On April 6, 1963, a group of parents convened a conference in Chicago entitled "Exploration into the Problems of the Perceptually Handicapped Child." From that beginning the Association for Children with Learning Disabilities (ACLD) was created and incorporated in January, 1964. The organization now known as the LDA established a national office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1973. From early days LDA has encouraged state and local affiliates which leverage the resources of the national organization while providing the support of a face-to-face community.

LEARNING DISABILITIES ASSOCIATION OF ALASKA, INC. was incorporated 3/19/2002 with an Anchorage mailing address. The corporation was dissolved 4/22/2011. Our current organization was incorporated 3/5/2016.

We currently have three directors, Matthew, Alison and Larry Talley. We don’t intend this to be an exclusive organization but it was easier to draft the paperwork when we could collaborate around our dining room table.

Our corporate filings are available at https://www.commerce.alaska.gov/CBP/Main/Search/EntityDetail/10036475

This is our second membership meeting. As we get more membership we will need to decide how often to meet and when to hold our annual meeting at which we will elect directors. Until the first annual meeting the current directors are willing to continue in this capacity.
